On the 17th of January 2010, I started ‘Vegematarian’ as a free online cookbook of vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free recipes (as there seemed to be a lack of them out there). I also wanted to inspire new cooking adventures for others and keep my own eating habits on track.
Since then, I have posted 299 recipes, reviews or notes… and now on to my 300th (forgive me for the self-indulgence)!
In 2010, this blog had 2914 visitors.
In 2011, 19202 visitors.
And mid-year in 2012, 22309 people have already dropped by.
About 150-200 people visit this website per day.
I feel very humbled and honoured by these stats. In fact, they blow my mind!
I’d like to thank my amazing community of family and friends who give so much love to me. Just before Christmas last year, I was diagnosed with premature menopause in my early 30s. One in 100 Australian women go through menopause before the age of 40, so there are a lot of us out there but no one seems to talk about it. I have been processing this new situation and everything I have read confirms my decision to eat in a way that supports good health now and in the future (and do my best to avoid the increased risk of cancer, osteoporosis and heart disease). I must confess that sometimes I ‘lose my way’ but am now more determined than ever to empower myself through what I eat and drink.
I say “sayoonara” to the foods and drink that may reduce the quality of my life, and “hello” to all that is nourishing, protective and positive.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank YOU for visiting my blog. I’ve loved hearing your thoughts, answering your questions and learning more about your food and cooking knowledge. Your lovely WordPress comments, Facebook posts, tweets and emails inspire me to continue.
